Plant Fitter / Mechanic – Waste Management Company
Pay Rate: £20.00 – £24.00 per hour
Hours: Approx 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Full-time Permanent or Self-Employed (Rolling Contract)
Location: Somerset area
We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Plant Fitter / Mechanic to join our clients team at several key operational sites across the UK. This is a hands-on role suited to individuals confident working on a wide range of heavy plant machinery in a busy, fast-paced environment. Company Van Provided.
About the Role: You’ll be responsible for the service, repair, and maintenance of plant machinery, including:
- Excavators
- Loading Shovels
- Articulated Dumpers
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out efficient repairs to minimise equipment downtime
- Conducting preventative maintenance and inspections
- Attending on-site breakdowns with a fully equipped company van
- Keeping accurate maintenance records
- Adhering to all site safety procedures and regulations
- Working both on-site and in workshop environments as required
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance – ideally within the waste or construction sectors
- Proven experience working with Volvo and Caterpillar machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure
- Willing to commit to 60 hours per week, including flexibility for weekend work or call-outs
