Enjoying where you work has a knock-on effect on your personal life and physical/mental health, so make sure you’re in a role that you love!
Is it really that easy? How do we find the ever-elusive ‘Work / Life balance’? Watch as Paul Jacobs, shares a little more insight on the topic and then we’ve listed 5 reasons why you should really do your best to enjoy where you work (or maybe think about making a change). Let’s take a look…
Here are 5 reasons why you should enjoy where you work!
1. Higher self-esteem:
If you are content with your workplace, the chances that you’ll be more motivated to push yourself further are much higher, as well as having more energy to develop yourself within your career!
2. More Earning potential:
Your enthusiasm will reflect on your customers and therefore help you make sales and achieve high targets! If you’re unhappy, this is less likely to be the case. Furthermore, your happiness can help you be a great asset to your company due to the heightened productivity and enthusiasm in comparison to those who are not, therefore making you a valuable employee. You will also help to keep other co-workers engaged in their work and feeling inspired.
3. Health benefits:
People who do not enjoy their jobs can have increased blood pressure, headaches and suffer from stress etc. There are many stress related illnesses, both physical and emotional, that can occur if you are doing work you do not enjoy. Enjoying your work will give you a better overall well-being, which helps you improve in the workplace!
4. A happier home life:
Instead of returning home from work stressed and unhappy you are likely to feel more energetic and enjoy time with your family and friends! When you are doing work that you love, it’s much less likely that you’ll be cynical, irritable, and impatient. People will want to be around you because of your positive attitude and happy disposition, so do what you love!
5. Improved mental health:
Doing what you love improves mental health by providing a sense of meaning and purpose, this is then associated with psychological well-being.
