Workshop Manager – Ropley
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading agricultural and automotive group, for a Workshop Manager position based in Ropley. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual with hands-on experience and excellent organisational skills to oversee workshop operations. You will manage a team of engineers, coordinate repair and service jobs, and ensure exceptional customer service standards are met.
The ideal candidate will have a background in agricultural machinery or automotive and a passion for operational excellence. This role includes occasional out-of-hours support as part of a rota.
- Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience).
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm (Harvest: 7:30 am – 6:30 pm). Weekend and additional hours required for shows and events (on a rota basis).
- Holiday Entitlement: 22 days, plus 8 bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the workshop and manage technician workloads.
- Schedule and book repairs and service jobs.
- Raise job cards daily, ensuring accurate information is gathered.
- Liaise with the service team to coordinate servicing through telemetry data.
- Handle customer enquiries, providing updates and resolving queries.
- Manage invoicing and internal prep forms, ensuring correct time allowances for jobs.
- Agree on additional work requirements with customers and sales managers.
- Collaborate with the sales department to prepare new and used machinery.
- Take part in the rota for out-of-hours customer and technician calls, including evenings and weekends.
- Ensure all jobs are completed on time and to customer satisfaction, providing regular updates.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Strong customer communication skills and professional telephone manner.
- Knowledge of agricultural machinery or automotive systems.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.
- Experience with the Ibcos Gold system (training will be provided) – Desirable.
