Job Title: HGV Mechanic – Workshop Based
Location: Solihull, UK
Salary: £45,208.80 per annum (£20.70 per hour)
Work Schedule: 4 on 4 off, DAYS 8am – 8pm (42 hours per week)
My client are a reputable and well-established company based in Solihull, specializing in the maintenance and repair of a mixed fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) including Mercedes, Volvo, Scania, Renault, MAN, and DAF. We are committed to delivering high-quality service and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our clients’ fleets. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to join our workshop team.
Job Description:
Role Overview: As a Workshop-Based HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a mixed fleet of HGVs. This role requires a highly skilled technician who can work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering top-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of HGVs to identify and diagnose faults or issues.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of HGVs, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools and software to accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Tail Lift Experience: Repair and maintain tail lifts, ensuring they are compliant with safety standards (ideal but not essential).
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including parts used and labor time.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on repairs and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, preferably with a mixed fleet.
- Education: Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent is essential.
- Licenses: Class 1 driving license is ideal but not essential.
- Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic and repair skills, with experience working on a variety of HGV brands.
- Tail Lift Experience: Experience with tail lift maintenance and repair is ideal.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
